PINK FLOYD
The first time I had heard of Pink Floyd was when I saw the music video for "Learning to Fly" on MTV. I was probably around 10 at the time. My brother got the album, and later got Wish You Were Here. I really liked A Momentary Lapse of Reason, but Wish You Were Here was too slow for a kid of that age. Years later I had heard some kids talking about a movie that they made called "The Wall" after the album of the same name. I got the album for Christmas, and listened to it many times. A few months later I bought Dark Side of the Moon, which became my favorite album of all time after I realized that you can't get tired of listening to it.

Pink Floyd started as a Rhythm and Blues band, but quickly changed over to a more psychadelica style, headed by Syd Barret. After their first record was released, Syd Barret's problems with drugs forced him out of the band, to be replaced by David Gilmore, but it was Roger Waters who took the reigns of the band. After several mildly successful albums, Dark Side of the Moon was released, launching the band to legend status, and becoming the best selling album of all time at some point (currently the album is #18 on that chart, but it peaked at #1). The Wall album is currently the #3 best-selling album of all time, of which there was a movie made. After The Final Cut, the band broke up, but regrouped without Roger Waters for A Momentary Lapse of Reason. Roger Waters is currently on tour with his solo career, but Pink Floyd hasn't seen any real activity in many years now.
